Champix
Champix (varenicline) is a prescription medication for smoking cessastion. The active ingredient of Champix is Varenicline Tartrate and it works by satisfying the part of your brain that craves nicotine, without actually putting nicotine into your body.
What is Champix?
Champix (Varenicline) by Pfizer is a prescription only medicine which is used to treat smoking addiction. Champix reduces cravings for smoking and decreases the effects of cigarettes and other tobacco products.
Champix works on nicotinic receptors in the brain and both stimulates and blocks them. It mimics the effects of nicotine to reduce cravings by stimulating the receptor.
How to take Champix?
Research has found that most people who try to quit are unable to give up without outside support. You are more likely to stop smoking if you are motivated to stop smoking.
Decide a date when you will stop smoking and note it down. Start taking CHAMPIX 1 week to 2 weeks before your quit date. This will let CHAMPIX build up in your body and allows it to start working. You can keep smoking during this time. Make sure that you try and stop smoking on your quit date. If you slip, try to quit again.
Start by taking a low dose to help your body to get use to CHAMPIX. Start with the low dose and then increase the dose. You start with Champix Starter Pack which will cover your first four weeks of tablets. Take your medicine at about the same time each day. This will have the best effect and help you remember when to take it.
You will need to obtain the remaining 8 weeks course after you finish the Starter Pack. A full course containing Starter and Continuation Pack is also available.
Champix Side Effects
