Reductil is prescribed to aid weight loss in people with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher (obese), and people with a BMI of 27 or higher (over-weight) with other obesity related risk factors. It is prescribed to people who have had difficulty in losing weight with diet and exercise alone.

How does Reductil work?

When you are using Reductil, you eat less and still feel full. Reductil blocks the nerve cells that release and reabsorb serotonin. Reductil works by inhibiting the reabsorption of noradrenaline and serotonin. This means that the level of the chemicals will stay at higher levels so you feel full after eating less than normal and the appetite between meals will be suppresed. These act in the brain and enhance feelings of fullness so that you eat less and consequently lose weight.
